This sustainably designed modern style container house is nestled in the dense jungle of Costa Rica where you are walking distance to everything in Playa Guiones while being out of earshot from civilization. Stroll in the lush garden, which extends to the roof and surrounding untouched rainforest. Enjoy the comforts of luxury design while thoughtfully conserving the ecosystem that makes Nosara with composting toilets, renewable electricity, and grey-water collected for irrigation.

The casita is made from a repurposed shipping container. It has one bedroom with a gel memory foam mattress and a sleeping loft with a full size mattress. The sleeping loft is most suitable for children and teenagers as it has a low ceiling, similar to a bunk bed that you would find in an RV. In the living room, there is also a small futon sofa that can sleep one additional person.

There is a large indoor/outdoor bathroom located at the far end of the container. One must walk through the bedroom to access the bathroom. The container casita is perfect for families traveling with young children. Children will love exploring the large yard and getting their hands dirty in the jungle. Because of the layout, the property may not be comfortable for four adults.

There is only one AC unit located in the bedroom. If you leave the bedroom door open, the unit cools the casita nicely. But if you shut the bedroom door at night, guests in the front half may not be comfortable. The compost toilet is a bucket system. If used correctly, there will be no odors or insects that are typical of other compost toilets. To prevent odors and insects, guests must bury their outputs with a hefty layer of sawdust, which we provide. We service the toilet after each check out and for longer stays, every few days. Servicing the toilet involves emptying the bucket in our compost and sanitizing the bucket. If you would be more comfortable with cleanings more often, we can arrange additional cleanings for $20 per cleaning.

While the infrastructure in Costa Rica is improving, it is highly likely that you will experience dust, bugs, mold, power, water and internet outages at some point during your stay. We consider it part of the fun of experiencing another country and culture. All of these issues are beyond the control of the homeowner and the management company and may come without advance notice. If having internet access is imperative during your visit, we recommend you research internet data plans available to you through your cellular provider. The Playa Guiones, Playa Pelada and surrounding areas of Nosara are rapidly growing communities. As such, much of the area will have noise from construction typically between the hours of 6am and 5pm. We do our best to update our properties impacted by construction, however, we are not always provided advance notice of a project. The septic system in the Nosara area does not permit flushing of toilet paper with few exceptions. If you have any questions at all, please contact us in advance of booking your stay as refunds and concessions will not be given for any of the reasons above as they are beyond the control of the homeowner and property manager.
